Lawn Care Program
Lakeland Lawn Care offers up to a Lawn Care Program that ensures timely treatments to your lawn each season. Our program consists of regularly scheduled fertilizer and weed control applications to keep your lawn thick, lush and weed free. Crabgrass control is applied in spring and an optional preventative grub control application can be applied in mid-summer. To prepare your lawn for the rough Wisconsin winters, a winterizer is applied at the end of the season. In addition, during each treatment, Lakeland will evaluate your lawn for weeds, insects and disease.

Invasive Species Plant Control
Lakeland Lawn Care offers professional invasive species control of a wide variety of nuisance plants. A comprehensive program designed for your particular property will ensure positive results and will insure that these problem plants do not disturb our beautiful natural environment. Also, we work closely with the Department of Natural Resources in this effort and of course, we comply 100% with all permits and regulations. Together, with Lakeland, you can help control the spread of these invasive plants.
Burning: Controlled burning of dead and dormant plant material can be accomplished when it is determined that it can be done safely and within current legal restrictions. By burning off the plant debris, subsequent herbicide applications can better reach the new growth, which increases effectiveness of the chemical control.
Mowing: In this part of the control process, power mowing equipment can safely remove the dead and dormant invasive plants material which again will provide for a more effective herbicide application.
Herbicide Application: Lakeland Lawn Care works continuously with the top herbicide manufacturers to be sure we are up-to-date on the most current products available for invasive plant control. Depending on the situation, some of our herbicide application techniques are, but not limited to, using hand-help sprayers, backpack equipment, spray equipment mounted on utility vehicles and trucks, and helicopter sprayers. At Lakeland Lawn Care, herbicides are always applied by licensed and certified applicators using the best techniques for both control and safety.
To be sure Lakeland is delivering the highest quality of service, we work closely with the Wisconsin DNR, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, and other agencies & organizations. This insures that our work is always done with the highest standards and is always done under appropriate supervision and proper permits.

Additional Services
Aeration
Lawns may deteriorate over time due to excess thatch, soil compaction, or a combination of the two. Aeration helps to manage thatch buildup and reduce problems arising from soil compaction. Proper aeration can help build a thicker, healthier turf with superior resistance to weeds, diseases, and insects. Most lawns will benefit from being aerated every 1-3 years with the frequency determined by the rate of thatch production and soil compaction. Compacted or thatchy sites will need more frequent aeration to correct the existing problem, up to twice a year for 1 or more years.
At Lakeland we offer Spring and/or Fall Core Aeration, but for various reasons Fall Core Aeration is always recommended.
Although recently aerated lawns may look rough and in poor condition, if lawns are aerated when grass is actively growing (late spring or fall) lawns will quickly recover with proper mowing and regrowth. After aeration, allow the cores of soil to dry for 1-2 days, then mow over them to help break them up. The cores generally take several days to fall apart, depending on rain, mowing, and traffic on the turf.
Aeration controls harmful thatch, increases root development, improves overall plant health, reduces soil problems, increases water retention (lower water bills).

Preventative Grub Control
In addition to our 6 Step Lawn Care Program, Lakeland also offers Preventative Grub Control. This application provides for season long control from grubs and other lawn damaging insects. Grubs are c-shaped, white or gray larvae of beetles that feast on the roots of your grasses. If they are not treated properly they have the potential to leave nothing behind but dead turf.
This application is a one time per year application. For maximum results, the timing of the applications is determined by the current weather conditions. Generally in our area, you can expect the preventative grub application to be done in June.
Good pest management is a season long process. If you have a history of these pests invading your lawn, prevention is key. Be sure to talk with one of our licensed technicians about our preventative applications. Or at any time you suspect these pests in your lawn be sure to contact us ASAP, there’s a good chance your lawn will need an insecticide application.

Overseeding
With the investment of overseeding, you are on the right tract to having the best looking lawn on the block. One reason why you might want to overseed your lawn is that your lawn is thin. A thin lawn means more room for unwanted weed or undesirable grasses to make their way into you lawn. By overseeding and existing lawn, you are going dramatically thicken up your lawn making it much more dense, leaving no room for weeds or undesirable grasses such as quack grass to grow. Another reason you might want to overseed is if you had insect damage in the past that has left you with bare areas. Similar to a thin lawn, these bare are leave lots of room for weeds to grow and rapidly spread. The third reason why you might want to overseed is to introduce new species of grass into your lawn. We can customize to you needs and desires. For example, some new species of grass are much more durable than others and they can tolerate the abuse of high traffic and summer stress much better.
At Lakeland, we always use premium quality seed, to ensure that you are going to get the best possible results. Although you may not see the results overnight, but in time, with proper care and maintenance your lawn will become the thick, lush, lawn you’ve always wanted.
Upon completion, in order to get the most reward out of this investment, we highly recommend following the proper care instructions we provide you with for both short term and long term benefits to keeping your lawn looking its best season after season. -Top- |
